Rachel Ludwikowski

Oil and acrylic painting · New York

Energy is at the heart of Rachel Ludwikowski‘s abstract paintings. Through sweeping gestures, layered surfaces, and expressive mark-making, she creates large-scale works that capture movement, emotion, and the physical act of painting itself.

Based in New York, Ludwikowski works primarily in oil and acrylic, building each composition through an intuitive process. Rather than following a fixed plan, she responds to the canvas as it develops, allowing layers of paint, ink, oil sticks, and mixed media to be added, removed, and rediscovered. The result is a surface rich with texture, depth, and traces of its own evolution.

Painting offers a creative balance to her career in finance, where structure and precision define her daily work. In the studio, intuition takes over, giving her the freedom to explore ideas through color, gesture, and material.

Working on canvases that range from intimate to monumental, Ludwikowski creates abstract compositions that invite viewers to experience both the intensity of movement and the quiet moments that emerge within it.
