Maria Franca

Oil painting · Italy

For Maria Franca Grisolia, painting is a way to explore the human experience. Inspired by the traditions of classical and Renaissance Italian art, she creates oil paintings that reflect the emotions, strengths, and complexities of people, often placing the female figure at the center of her compositions.

Born in the Dominican Republic and based in Italy, Grisolia combines her Caribbean roots with the artistic education and creative practice she developed throughout her career, including her years as an art teacher. Her early training in drawing, perspective, and chiaroscuro continues to shape her careful approach to composition, while soft transitions of color bring depth and feeling to each work.

Grisolia believes that understanding the art of the past enriches the appreciation of contemporary expression. Guided by this philosophy, she creates paintings that connect classical techniques with modern themes.

Her work has become part of museum collections in Italy, Mexico, and Brazil, reflecting the universal language she believes art can communicate.
