SOU

Abstract painting · Sapporo, Japan

SOU is a Japanese abstract artist based in Sapporo, whose work turns layers of paint, resin, metal, and glass into moving reflections of life.

Before dedicating himself to art, SOU spent over twenty years working in architecture and interior design. Those years sharpened his eye for light, materials, and space—elements that now guide his paintings.

Each work grows from both intention and chance. Acrylics flow across the surface, resin hardens into depth, powders shimmer, and unexpected cracks or bubbles appear.

For SOU, these details are not mistakes but the voice of the material, revealing its own rhythm. His art captures the flow of life itself—moments of passion, silence, memory, and renewal.

SOU’s work has been exhibited across Japan and internationally in Italy, Spain, Singapore, Vietnam, and the United States.

Recent highlights include Artexpo New York (2025) and New York, I Love You exhibition (2025), with a solo exhibition set for ARTI FACT in Manhattan (2026).

Through his paintings, SOU offers spaces of reflection, where viewers can find their own meaning in the shifting layers of light and color.
