Mary Archibald

Pastel art

For Mary Archibald, art began with a single sketch of her dog, Yogi.

That moment in 2017 awakened a passion for drawing that has since blossomed into a career rooted in love, patience, and the quiet observation of animals.

Raised in the Scottish countryside, Archibald grew up surrounded by the rhythms of nature, a backdrop that continues to shape her creative vision.

Pastels became her medium, their softness and immediacy allowing her to capture both the detail and the soul of her subjects. With every stroke, she builds layers of fur, light, and texture until an animal’s presence feels almost alive on the page.

Yet it is in the eyes—expressive, luminous, and unguarded—that her portraits find their heart.

Her work has crossed borders, exhibited throughout the United Kingdom and internationally in Paris and New York. A member of AAA, Circle Arts, and PGE International, Archibald continues to refine her practice while honoring the spirit of every creature she paints.

Through her art, Archibald offers more than likeness. She offers connection—a reminder of the beauty and dignity animals bring into our lives.
