Li Bendet is a former painter and presently a photographer and compositing artist living in NYC.
Emerging from a long Covid Lockdown in New York Li Bendet presents a new photo collage print series depicting the many textures of the city. These composited images make up a series called TarPaint and have focused on various shapes such as circles and squares. All of these images submitted are a part of either Circular Reasoning or Circular Logic and have elements of trashed computer parts incorporated in the images.
As a painter/photographer living in NYC, Li Bendet has gone through many transformations in her work, none more dramatic than observing the world around her and discovering the many amazing man-made textures of construction taking place as one of the few real activities going on in NYC starting during the Covid lockdown in 2020.
Throughout this time, Bendet has been taking thousands of photos which are then put together in compositions that look more like paintings and prints, using those textures as if they were paint. She composites them on either a rice paper texture or canvas texture and calls these images where the viscosity and reflections of tar is basis for her paint textures. These images then get printed as archival prints on archival papers or canvas.
Li Bendet graduated with a BFA in Painting, cum laude from Syracuse University, She then went on to study at Bennington College where she further explored and developed as a non-objective painter, working with artists in non-objective painting and color fields.
As a resident of New York she showed her work at various galleries, auctions and commissions.
