My vision is to create art that engages, inspires, and uplifts the spirit. The work is non-objective and does not represent any specific subject.

The sculptures evoke memories and emotions connected to life experiences and relationships, while also allowing for unexpected interpretations. The work explores emotional response through the use of contrasting materials, shapes, and colors.

Tension and intrigue emerge through the juxtaposition of planes, curves, and contrasting color relationships, as well as through inspiration drawn from the structural and aesthetic complexities of the natural world. The concept of “curved space,” a term rooted in cosmology, offers a useful framework for understanding the interplay of curved forms and negative space present in many of the works.

My background in science and engineering informs this practice, which has developed through a synthesis of technical knowledge and artistic expression. This evolution was further accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The process often begins with model building. Materials such as vellum paper, clay, carving media, and aluminum are used to create preliminary three-dimensional forms. Color studies are explored, base designs are integrated, and the work is prepared for final fabrication and finishing.

A range of materials is employed, including wood, metal, and clear plastics. Each material offers distinct fabrication and finishing properties. Unpainted materials such as copper, bronze, and wood provide natural contrast, while clear materials, such as plexiglass, introduce reflective qualities and layered visual depth.

A strong emphasis is placed on craftsmanship and precision. The creation of each piece requires advanced tools and processes to achieve high-quality finishes suitable for both indoor and outdoor display, with the potential for scaling to larger formats.
