Catherine Khomari

Photography
Pier 36, New York, NY

"Impressions of the Empire" is a study of love, a redemptive journey born from perceived failure. After a day of "failed" long-exposures, I refused to discard the beauty within the blur. Through a seven-layer stacking process, I dissolve Manhattan's rigid steel into a "blooming" entity that pulses with life.

My focus is the Empire State Building, an icon being eclipsed by modern skyscrapers. Utilizing a Van Gogh-inspired palette of vibrating cobalt and gold, I document this silhouette before it is lost. This is an archival testament, rendered not as it appears, but as it feels.
