Evelyn Cohen
My artistic practice explores movement, perception, and the relationship between the self and the other. My connection to art began in childhood through drawing and painting, while dance later became a central part of my life and professional path as a teacher and choreographer.
This background continues to shape my visual language, where rhythm, gesture, and spatial awareness inform the construction of each piece.
My process is guided by experimentation and intuition. Through layered color, movement, and expressive gestures, each work develops organically, often reflecting a sense of energy and transformation.
My recent work is deeply informed by philosophical reflections on the encounter between the self and the other, particularly the ideas of Martin Buber and Emmanuel Levinas. It considers how identity is formed through relationship, recognition, and the presence of another.
The work aims to create a space where this encounter can emerge, opening a moment for reflection and shared human experience.
