Roan Yarn is a painter from Atlanta, Georgia. Utilizing oil and acrylic paints on canvas, he employs traditional painting techniques to create his works. Yarn draws inspiration from simple, everyday moments that resonate with him as soothing, satisfying, or noteworthy—whether it’s his backyard, his morning commute, a cup of coffee, or images he finds online. He is particularly captivated by the interplay between the subject and its setting, which defines the overall composition. Yarn begins his artistic process with a reference photo, which he transfers to the canvas either by freehand drawing or using the grid method, depending on the complexity of the composition. While his latest series focuses on landscapes, he is shifting his focus to interior-focused imagery, weaving together design elements with his personal aesthetic.

Yarn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Morehouse College and an MBA from the Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University. Yarn participated in numerous exhibitions in the mid to late 1990s under the pseudonym RILLY (an acronym of his full name Roan Ivey Lee-Livingston Yarn). After a long hiatus, Roan rediscovered his love of painting during the pandemic and has since been actively producing new works under his first and last name, Roan Yarn. Today, he is both an artist and a real estate technology subject matter expert, and the Founder and CEO of Bricks, a web3-based real estate tokenization and trading platform.
