Rodney Foster

Mixed-media painting

My work is rooted in the belief that art can shape how we imagine the future. As a former middle school teacher, I was inspired by the creativity, resilience, and untapped brilliance of young people, which became the foundation for my Beautiful Future series.

Through this body of work, I seek to elevate youth as visionaries and leaders, using futuristic narratives and street culture as a lens to reframe their potential.

I create on wood panels, layering spray paint, acrylics, and resin to achieve both texture and permanence.

My process often begins with a black and white canvas, which I accent with vibrant color and futuristic symbols to highlight optimism and power. Themes of resilience, imagination, and cultural pride run through each piece, weaving together personal narrative and collective possibility.

As the founder of Art We Beautiful, I bring my work beyond gallery walls, creating immersive experiences and community pop-ups that allow art to exist in everyday spaces.

My vision is to inspire people—especially the youth—to see themselves as architects of tomorrow, capable of building a “Beautiful Future” through creativity, courage, and vision.
