I draw my inspiration from the vibrant and ever-changing world of street art and graffiti that fills the streets of New York City. The neighborhoods of the Lower East Side, Soho, and the West Village—each rich in cultural texture—are where I find my creative spark. To me, these urban artworks are more than temporary visuals; they are powerful expressions of identity, resistance, and community. My work is rooted in the desire to preserve and honor these fleeting moments of public creativity.
My artistic process begins with photography. I document pieces in their original context, capturing not just the image, but the energy of the streets where they live. From these photographs, I create detailed sketches by hand, translating the spirit and structure of each subject onto paper. I then turn to watercolor—a medium that allows me to build light, color, and emotion through delicate, transparent layers. The process is slow and intentional, each brushstroke contributing to a composition that aims to echo the vitality of the original work.
I’m not just interested in representing what I see; I want to evoke the feeling of standing in front of a wall covered in raw, expressive art. My goal is to create a visual and emotional bridge between the viewer and the streets of New York—a connection to the cultural heartbeat of the city.
In using watercolor to document and interpret street art, I see myself not only as a painter but as a storyteller and custodian of the city’s soul.
