EXQUISITE ESSENCE by Princess Olaọ̀ṣun is the creative practice of Houston-based artist Princess Olaosun, whose mixed-media works explore emotion, resilience, and the complexity of human experience. Influenced by ongoing studies in clinical psychology, Olaọ̀ṣun creates visually layered compositions that examine the relationship between inner perception and outward expression.
Through assemblage, mild surrealism, and mild hyper-realism, Olaọ̀ṣun combines hand-bound canvases, symbolic imagery, original poetry, and color psychology to build works rich in meaning and personal interpretation. Every element is intentionally placed, allowing the artwork to communicate on both visual and emotional levels.
Themes of healing, transformation, vulnerability, and self-discovery appear throughout the work. References to African heritage, including sculptural forms inspired by natural hair textures, add further depth to the narratives unfolding across each composition.
