Nightowl Doodles is a Haitian-American artist based in Elizabeth, New Jersey, whose watercolor paintings blend fantasy, emotion, and quiet storytelling. Through surreal female figures, flowing color, and delicate details, her work creates dreamlike spaces that explore vulnerability, self-expression, and inner beauty.
What began as a childhood passion slowly became a calling that could no longer be ignored. After stepping away from a career in nursing, Nightowl Doodles chose to fully pursue art, embracing the creative path she had once set aside. That personal journey now lives within her work, giving each painting a sense of honesty and emotional warmth.
Working primarily with watercolor, she is drawn to the medium’s softness and unpredictability. The fluid nature of paint allows her to create pieces that feel calm, intimate, and alive with feeling. Nature also plays an important role in her inspiration, often appearing through symbolic and fantasy-inspired imagery.
Her recent “Geode” series reflects this deeply personal approach. Using sparkling crystals hidden within quiet, understated forms, the series speaks to the idea that true beauty often exists beneath the surface.
