Leo Shartava, a self-taught artist from Georgia, began painting in his fifties. His journey into art started with a simple New Year’s gift of paints and brushes from his wife. Her request for a Tuscan landscape sparked his passion for creating art.
Growing up in Sukhumi, a small town on the Black Sea coast, Leo was deeply influenced by the vibrant colors and lush nature of the subtropical flora that surrounded him.
These childhood memories, combined with the inspiration he draws from traveling and visiting beautiful places in Europe, serve as the foundation for his work.
Leo’s art captures the vivid beauty of the world around him, celebrating nature and the charm of his childhood in Sukhumi. Each piece tells a story, combining his experiences with his love for color and form.
