Blas Melissari is a multidisciplinary artist with global influences. Drawing on his Uruguayan and Italian heritage and his Canadian academic and artistic connection, his work explores the intersections of nature, technology, and human resilience through painting, music, and interactive audiovisual installations. With a PhD from the University of Toronto, he combines technical expertise with creative expression to craft immersive works that bridge visual arts, music, science, and technology.
His artistic journey began in music, performing as a drummer and composer for over 20 years, which later evolved into a passion for audiovisual programming, where sound and visuals merge into dynamic, multi-sensory experiences.
His latest series, A Surreal Future, envisions urban landscapes reclaimed by nature, offering a powerful narrative of regeneration and resilience. Working with oil pastels and pencil on wood, Melissari creates striking surrealist imagery that blends intricate detail with vibrant colors.
Beyond traditional paintings, Melissari’s practice extends into large-scale installations, including upcoming projects in Florence and a high-profile exhibition at Agora Gallery in New York this January. As an educator and director of an environmental NGO, he uses his art to foster conversations about humanity and the deep connection between art and science. His works invite audiences to step into immersive projects that challenge perspectives and inspire reflection.
