Joy H. Kwon is a Korean artist living in New York and New Jersey. She is known for her beautiful brush paintings and calligraphy that blend old traditions with modern ideas.
Since childhood, Kwon has had a gift for art, winning many awards in Korea and later studying in China, where she became the first foreigner to earn a doctorate in Chinese bird and flower painting.
Her latest work is inspired by Korean Moon jars, simple white porcelain vases that represent calm, beauty, and deep meaning in Korean culture.
She paints these jars and then adds clear plexiglass with Bible verses written in Korean calligraphy. When light shines through, the words cast gentle shadows over the jar, showing her faith and cultural pride in a quiet, powerful way.
Kwon’s art has been shown in cities around the world. She now teaches and creates in the U.S., sharing her love for Korean tradition and modern storytelling through her unique art.
