Donna Masi’s artistic path has always centered on sparking emotion and drawing the viewer in. Over time, her creative voice outgrew traditional tools. Classical painting and drawing no longer gave her the energy or tension she craved in her work.
Her turning point came with a simple flat screen, an iPad. Masi was drawn to its brilliant colors and the glow of digital images. Embracing technology, she began working with the iPad Pro and the Procreate app. Brushes and pencils gave way to styluses and digital layers.
This shift led to a new technique Masi calls “Shadow Dancing.” She prints her digital images on photo-transparent film, then layers them between quarter-inch slabs of acrylic.
These stacked layers create depth, light play, and movement, mimicking the luminous effect of a screen.
