My work explores the relationship between African-American culture, mental health, and multimedia experiences. With African-Americans being viewed through various forms of media (billboards, TV, internet, social media, etc.), new insights are crafted from both explicit and implicit discourse, influenced by figures such as Frida Kahlo and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Ever since I was a teenager, I have been fascinated by the unrelenting divergence of the mind. What starts as a vision soon becomes finessed into a manifesto of distress, leaving only a sense of nihilism and the possibility of a new reality. As spatial replicas become distorted through boundaries and repetitive practices, the viewer is left with an insight into the outposts of our condition.
