Working exclusively with oil on linen canvas, I paint portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. I find my inspiration in Art History and Old Masters like John Singer Sargent, Henri Fantin-Latour, Joaquin Sorolla, and Gustav Klimt, and American 1950s and 60s cinema. I use traditional painting techniques such as trompe l’oeil and other decorative techniques combined with elements of abstraction. In doing so, I strive to discover new aspects of art and the world, which are too often overlooked in contemporary art today. By reimagining archetypal historical figures, I seek to establish a common thread between then and now. I want my art to bring pleasure. I do not try to provoke or offend people, but rather to surprise them, by letting them discover new aspects we have forgotten, connecting us to our history, be it of glory or pain.
