On Thursday, October 9th, 2025, AGI Fine Art presents a pop-up solo exhibition by Japanese artist and designer Takuma Yamazaki, hosted in our intimate Chelsea venue, The Loft.
This one-day event, open to the public from 12 PM to 8 PM, offers a rare opportunity to engage with Yamazaki’s thought-provoking body of work — where material innovation, conceptual depth, and quiet ritual converge.
Born in Hokkaido, Japan, Takuma Yamazaki is known for his experimental approach to material tuning — a practice that reflects the resonance between philosophy, form, and the unseen aspects of life.
With a background in industrial design at Canon Inc., Yamazaki applies a rare level of technical precision to deeply poetic themes. His major projects, including Bio-Vide, Sound of Drawing, and Anima Code, explore ideas of impermanence, nature, decay, and digital memory.
From furniture made of layered fallen leaves, to light sculptures constructed from stratospheric balloon membranes, his works blur the line between the natural and the technological, the ephemeral and the eternal. Yamazaki is the recipient of numerous international awards, including the iF Design Award, Kokuyo Design Award, and Lexus Design Award.
The Pop-Up Exhibition at The Loft will feature a selection of key works from Yamazaki’s recent artistic journey. Visitors will step into a quiet, spotlight-lit space designed to encourage slowness, contemplation, and multisensory engagement.
This unique setting amplifies Yamazaki’s core questions: What is life? What is an object? What is a trace? By using materials such as fallen leaves, bone, paper, and transparent acrylics, his installations encourage viewers to consider their relationship to time, memory, and matter.
