Sergio Oliveira

Atelier Natália Gromicho, Rua Nova da Trindade 5G, 1200-301 Lisbon, Portugal

Brazilian-born artist S.Alves creates abstract paintings that explore emotion, perception, and the many ways people experience the world. Through bold colors, expressive brushwork, and layered textures, his work moves beyond literal representation, encouraging viewers to form their own personal interpretations. Working in a style he describes as Subjective Expressionism, S.Alves transforms everyday experiences into dynamic visual compositions that reflect memory, feeling, and human emotion. Influenced by the legacy of Abstract Expressionism, he has developed a distinctive artistic language that balances energy with thoughtful expression.

S.Alves began his artistic training at the School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro in 1976, where he built a strong foundation in drawing, gouache, and charcoal. He later continued his studies at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon, further expanding his practice and strengthening his international perspective. Today, his paintings invite collectors and viewers alike to experience abstraction as a space for reflection, emotion, and personal connection.
