Shinichiro Wakita

Agora Gallery, 530 W 25th Street, New York, NY 10001

Tokyo-based artist Shinichiro Wakita is an advertising agency professional, wrestler, and illustrator. His artistic practice centers on imagined food stalls that appear and disappear throughout the city, blending everyday urban life with fantasy, nostalgia, and a quiet sense of melancholy.

Drawing from his experiences in advertising and illustration, Wakita creates animation works that transform familiar city scenes into imaginative encounters.

His fictional food stalls exist between reality and imagination, capturing the fleeting feeling of discovering something unexpected in an ordinary place.

His work has received recognition through the 2022 Ace Hotel “AIR” Award and GEISAI #22. He was also selected for the Metropolitan Melodies Competition, hosted by New York Art Competitions, with his work recognized in the competition’s 2024 and 2025 editions.
