Maria Regina Garciga

Agora Gallery, 530 W 25th Street, New York, NY 10001

Maria Regina Garciga finds inspiration in the small details that often escape notice. A self-taught artist, she approaches painting and drawing without a fixed plan, allowing each work to develop naturally through observation, curiosity, and instinct.

Born in Lima, Peru, and raised between Peru and the United States, Garciga brings a thoughtful and personal perspective to her work. She often draws inspiration from enlarging small sections of a photograph until the original subject becomes abstract, inviting viewers to look closer and discover something new.

Her ink drawings, created spontaneously, bring together layers of patterns and marks without a predetermined composition. For Garciga, art is a space for joy, reflection, and discovery. She leaves each work open to interpretation, allowing viewers to find their own meaning in what they see.
