Marc Provisor

Agora Gallery, 530 W 25th Street, New York, NY 10001

“In order to make a living, most artists teach or work in design or another profession within the realm of the art world. Marc Provisor works at preventing terrorism. But the security expert and artist are not split identities, each one of these parts of his life inform and enrich the other.” - Ophra Shoshtari, Curator and Director of Mareh

At the intersection of counter-terrorism and fine art is perspective: the mind’s eye. In both fields, Marc Provisor excels through his ability to see the full picture and establish creative solutions to presented challenges; he analyzes the positive and negative spaces, the light and the dark, the form or lack thereof, the moments of tension and the moments of calm. Provisor presents a series of landscape paintings that address the raw, dark emotions of the violence he has seen in his career with the gentility and softness of the natural world, reflecting his love of life and the world he works to protect.

Provisor’s landscapes are saturated with deep emotion and intense colors. Gazing at these panoramas, the viewer is able to find moments of tension or despondence balanced by sensual magnetism or graceful reflection. Impressions of volume are permeated by quixotic light and lend the works an almost sculptural quality. Provisor intends his works to be vistas of the world through his unique lens; “the beauty and the chaos, passion, fragility, and the inherent strength of people.”
