Donna Masi

Agora Gallery, 530 W 25th Street, New York, NY 10001

Donna Masi creates work that blends light, shadow, and the human figure into deeply emotional visual experiences. A former educator whose artistic journey began later in life, Masi has dedicated years to exploring how art can express not only physical form, but also the quiet presence of the human spirit.

Rooted in classical training, Masi’s practice evolved through continuous experimentation with materials, dimensions, and technology. What began with drawing, painting, and layered acrylic dioramas gradually transformed into a unique mixed-media process that combines digital imagery with acrylic surfaces and projected light. Using Procreate as a creative tool, Masi produces vibrant figures that shift and transform as shadows interact with the work.

This ongoing exploration led to what Masi calls “Shadow Dancing,” a technique that gives her pieces a sense of movement, tension, and life. Figures appear fragmented yet connected, delicate yet powerful, inviting viewers into a thoughtful and emotional encounter.

Through transparency, color, and layered forms, Masi’s work reflects her continued search for connection, beauty, and the emotional depth that exists within the human experience.
