Christopher Beckcom brings together the discipline of architecture and the freedom of abstraction. Based in Austin, Texas, his practice explores how geometry, repetition, space, and structure can give form to emotions, memories, and personal experiences.
His compositions are carefully arranged, often using simple geometric forms and self-imposed limits. Within this sense of order, however, there is room for tension, movement, and vulnerability. Negative space plays an active role, creating pauses within the work and encouraging viewers to look beyond what is immediately visible.
Beckcom’s approach reflects his background in architecture and design, where precision, proportion, and spatial relationships are central. His paintings bring these principles into a more personal setting, using structure not as a restriction but as a way to explore what can be difficult to express.
Through this balance of control and spontaneity, Beckcom creates quiet, contemplative works that leave space for viewers to form their own interpretations.
