Bangladeshi artist and writer Baish Kadir has developed a multidisciplinary career spanning visual art, literature, photography, and cultural work. Born in Sylhet in 1970, he began developing his interest in painting and writing during his school and college years. He completed fine arts studies at Shilpakala Academy in 1988 and continued his training through workshops in Bangladesh, India, and the United Kingdom.
Kadir has held 16 solo exhibitions across Bangladesh, India, and London, alongside numerous international group exhibitions. His literary career includes six solo books and contributions to more than 50 collaborative publications, with his writing and artwork appearing in newspapers and periodicals in Bangladesh and the UK.
His latest artistic development, Paper Painting, is the result of nearly three decades of research. Using layered paper, synthetic resin adhesive, and other carefully selected materials, Kadir creates detailed works built gradually through a process of patience and precision. Each piece begins with a concept and story, which he develops layer by layer.
His Paper Painting was recently exhibited at Brady Arts & Community Centre Gallery in London and continues to be presented internationally.
