Emmanuelle Wilhelm was born in Normandy, France, in 1971. At the age of 20, she moved to Paris to pursue studies in drawing. She began with a preparatory year in drawing and painting before starting her first year in architecture school. However, she later shifted her focus to merchandising, a field she studied for three years. Her curriculum included academic drawing, painting, and the creation of decorative window displays for boutiques.
From an early age, Emmanuelle demonstrated a strong artistic and creative inclination. In recent years, she has returned to painting, creating numerous pieces for her personal enjoyment and to adorn her home.
She has a particular appreciation for abstract art and draws much of her inspiration from Pierre Soulages, a contemporary French painter known for his work with black, which he called Outrenoir. Emmanuelle’s own work reflects her fascination with the interplay of light, shifting reflections, and the contrasts of black on her monochromatic canvases.
