The first is Bio-Vide: Becoming Object, presented at SaloneSatellite in Milan in April 2026. Over a decade of research, Yamazaki came to recognize a missing perspective: that of the object itself. This realization led him to explore the relationship between life and objects by attempting to become an object himself. In this experimental work, Yamazaki spent a total of 43 hours seated, making his own body part of the furniture. The work brought him international attention, including his selection by British design publication Dezeen as one of ten emerging designers to watch.

The second is Display 1996, a new work in the Invisible Connections series, which began in 2023. The work expresses how connections with unseen life forms, including those we have never encountered, profoundly influence our own lives and existence. Throughout the series, Yamazaki has used digital technology to design the forms of microorganisms. Drawing on his childhood memory of owning a digital creature for the first time, he presents his original microorganisms within displays whose housings reinterpret the original Tamagotchi, released in 1996, as an homage.

The third is a new work in PromPlant / HeatBeat Series, in which Yamazaki generates plant forms from the sound of his own heartbeat and presents them within silkscreen-printing equipment repurposed as frames.

For this new work, he generated plant forms using the heartbeat of a person living with cancer. Visitors are invited to observe the differences that emerge between works created from Yamazaki’s own heartbeat and those created from another person’s.

Yamazaki sees objects as more than passive things: they emerge and continually change through their connections and continuity with life. Through his distinctive sensibility, expressed across diverse materials and media, visitors are invited to explore and enjoy the connections between themselves and the beings and objects that surround them.
