Mezzo maintains an art practice in her studio on Long Island from which she has created several bodies of work including: Hair-Raising Thoughts: Read My Mind — a weekly blog which became an illustrated series exploring life as a mother in suburbia, Unexpected Visitors — a second illustrated series self-published as a zine entitled, COLOR: A Coloring Zine for Grown-ups Living Outside the Lines, and Feeling Blue — a collection of cyanotypes documenting plant life on Long Island. She is currently working on a young adult novel, Barrette Girl and a visual memoir entitled, You Can Build Your Own Cathedral.
A 12 piece collection of body armor (and accessories) made from knitted/woven/crocheted cotton and found metal — each with its own fictional “protection” for a highly sensitive artist seeking to thrive in a chaotic world. Exhibit includes soundscape and video. It was created to build an understanding about the reality of an artist’s inner world juxtaposed against the reality of our outer world.
